Content & Copywriting

Storytelling is a vital element of copywriting. The follow examples are impact stories I wrote to show our volunteers and donors the recipients of their support. The goal was to make them feel good about what they had contributed and to inspire them to keep contributing.

Aicuri and his mom have moved a lot in his short life, but now they are living in a homeless shelter. That shelter has a Bright Space playroom. In the Bright Space, Aicuri is just like every little boy – he is in constant motion – playing with trucks, figuring out how things work, or throwing his favorite football. In fact, the only time he sits still is when he is reading on a volunteer’s lap.

Adrianna is one of the hundreds of children passing through the Humanitarian Respite Center (HRC) in McAllen, TX, every week after they have been released from detention. Thanks to the Restoring Dignity Bright Space at the HRC, Adrianna has time to play and just be a kid in the middle of a very stressful time for her and her family. This can be crucial to alleviate toxic stress, which can lead to lifelong physical, mental, and emotional development issues.

When she arrived at a domestic violence shelter several years ago, Bright Horizons employee Emma thought domestic violence happened to other people. She was still trying to comprehend how she got to the point in her marriage where she feared that her and her children were no longer safe.

“The shelter was a place where we came together as a family in our darkest and most vulnerable moments,” she says. “It provided a safe place for my children and myself to have the strength and resources to escape the cycle of domestic violence.”

When the opportunity recently came to help create a Bright Space at the same shelter that meant so much to her family, Emma jumped in. “The youngest casualties of domestic violence deserve an opportunity to have and enjoy their childhood.”
